Ingredients

1 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 (12 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°.
  2. Grease a 15x10x1 inch jelly roll pan.
  3. Beat butter, both sugars and vanilla in a large mixing bowl.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each.
  5. Add flour, baking soda and salt.
  6. Gradually beat flour mixture into butter mixture.
  7. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts.
  8. Spread into the prepared baking pan.
  9. Bake 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

This recipe describes how to make toll house cookie bars, but if you prefer, you can make them as regular round chocolate chip cookies. Prepare the batter as above. Drop by spoonfuls on a cookie sheet and bake 15 minutes at 350°
