Homemade Shamrock Shake Recipe
1 vanilla milkshake
1/4 tsp. mint flavoring or extract – start with less and add more to taste (Do not use peppermint flavoring– It isn’t the same)
6-8 drops green food coloring
Make up your favorite vanilla shake – I usually use about 2 cups of vanilla ice cream in a blender and keep adding milk until I get the thickness I want. If you get it too thin, then add more ice cream. If it is too thick, add more milk. (Careful, though– A little milk thins it a lot.) Different types of ice cream may make the flavor slightly different. You might try inexpensive and low fat ice cream to start with.
* Add some chocolate chips or shaved chocolate if you love chocolate and mint flavored chips or candy if you like.

Sounds yummy. And half the price and calories as at McDonalds. And it won’t contain “yoga mat” ingredients among the 27 extra ingredients restaurants put in food that you and I wouldn’t.
What would peppermint do?

Peppermint just changes the flavor quite a bit. Both are good. You wouldn’t think it but they are two totally different flavors in the same way Wintergreen life savers and pep o mint life savers are different. The peppermint is really nice around Christmas time.

I use to make this for my children. I would just use a hand mixer, big bowl, ice cream, milk, mint and a little green food coloring.
