Glorified Beans and Franks – Delicious Hot Dogs
I come across some of the best sounding recipes but there are so many I can’t always get them all tested. Here’s one that not only sounds good but easy to prepare, so I am going to give it to you all to try.
This is one of those recipes you could make the day before you need it and let the spices “meld”. Then you would have it all ready to just warm up the next day for dinner.
Let me know if you do like it!
Thanks, Jill
Tips for Hot Dogs
- Try slicing your hot dogs lengthwise and frying in a pan, browning on both sides. Oh Yum.
- I slice hot dogs into a frying pan and brown slightly; then pour in eggs on top of them and scramble. Too yummy!
- This might also be good with your favorite cornbread batter poured on top of it before you bake it.
- Try adding a little cooked sausage to your beans for an “oh so good” taste.
Glorified Beans and Franks
1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
1/4 cup onion, chopped
6 hot dogs, sliced
1 (28oz.) can of baked beans with pork
1 cup applesauce
1 Tbsp. prepared mustard
2 Tbsp. ketchup
1/4 tsp. ground ginger
3/4 cup cheddar cheese, grated
Cook onions in oil until brown. Add hot dogs and brown. Transfer them to a 2 quart greased casserole dish and stir in all the rest of the ingredients but the cheese. Sprinkle cheese on top.
Bake uncovered at 350° for 30 minutes or until heated through and cheese is melted.

These recipes look so yummy. I think I will make the hot dogs and eggs for breakfast this weekend. Something to look forward to.

I do the one with the applesauce but I use pineapple tidbits instead.
I use beans and weiners quite often when we come back from hunting or fishing as a quick supper as I am exhausted serve them with toast and it is a real comfort food.
