Ingredients You Will Need For The Fish Tacos Recipe
To start, gather the following ingredients: fresh white fish fillets (such as cod or tilapia), flour or corn tortillas, and the toppings of your choice, like shredded cabbage or lettuce, diced tomatoes, diced red onion, chopped cilantro, sliced avocado, your choice of cheese and lime wedges.
For the fish taco sauce, you will need mayonnaise, lime juice, garlic powder, Sriracha sauce and cilantro.
Preparing The Fish Tacos
Begin by mixing the marinade ingredients in a large bowl. Then place the fish in the marinade for 15 minutes or more.
While the fish is marinating, mix the sauce ingredients in a separate bowl.
Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Carefully place the fish fillets in the pan, along with the marinade and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and cooked through. Remove the fish from the pan and set aside.
Next, warm the tortillas. You can do this by wrapping them in a damp paper towel and microwaving them for about 30 seconds, or by heating them directly on a dry skillet for a few seconds on each side. This will make them pliable and easier to fold.
Assembling The Fish Tacos
Now it’s time to assemble the tacos. Lay a tortilla on a clean surface and place a few pieces of the cooked fish in the center. Top the fish with shredded cabbage, tomatoes, onion, cilantro, cheese and sliced avocado and fish taco sauce. Serve each taco with a lime wedge or squeeze lime juice over the toppings for an extra burst of flavor. If desired, add a dollop of sour cream.
Once all the toppings are added, carefully fold the tortilla in half, creating a taco shape. Repeat this process until all the fish and toppings are used.
Serve the fish tacos immediately, while the tortillas are still warm. They can be enjoyed on their own or paired with a side of Mexican rice or refried beans for a complete meal. The combination of the flaky fish, crunchy cabbage, creamy avocado, and tangy lime creates a delightful explosion of flavors and textures in every bite.
If you prefer, you can serve the fish and the toppings and let your family or guests build their own tacos. Be sure to serve right away so they don’t get cold.
This easy fish tacos recipe is perfect for a quick weeknight or weekend dinner or for entertaining guests. It can be easily customized to suit individual tastes by adding or omitting certain toppings. Whether you’re a seafood lover or just looking to try something new, these fish tacos are sure to become a favorite in your household.
