7 Easy Dinner Recipes That Take 10 Minutes
Today I am going to share 7 easy dinner recipes for family meals that take less than 10 minutes to prepare. These dinner recipes are not only easy, but they are pretty much universally loved by adults and kids– even picky eaters.
If you often find yourself frustrated about what to make for your family dinner, you might be over-thinking meal planning. Making meal planning too complicated is one of the biggest causes of stress and procrastination that leads to eating out or grabbing fast food. Eating out is the biggest reason why people spend way too much money on their food budgets and most of us don’t really appreciate restaurant or fast food when it’s an everyday thing. Sure, it’s nice to go out once in a while for a special occasion, but too much of a good thing just isn’t a good thing.
We highly recommend keeping a list of around 10 easy dinner recipes that you make more often than anything else. You don’t always have to be dreaming up new gourmet meals for your family. Families love the consistency of predictable meals and having a small collection of easy dinner recipes for family meals you make the most often is actually comforting for them. Then, if you like, you can occasionally throw in something more fancy when you’re feeling extra adventurous.
The recipes in this post are the perfect kind of recipes for easy dinners your family will love and even look forward to eating.
If you do it right, cooking meals at home can actually be faster and easier than eating out. You don’t have to deal with cranky kids and crowds AND the food tastes a lot better!
With meal prep, I usually only count the time it takes in actual work. I do not count the cooking time because the time I spend preparing the food is what takes so much energy and while it’s baking, I can easily do other things.
While I’m waiting for the food to cook in an oven or crockpot, I don’t need to watch it. Instead, I can do something else like clean up the kitchen, help the kids or do some laundry or housecleaning, since I’m not actually cooking during that time.
So in this post, I’m sharing some of my favorite go-to easy dinner recipes that not only help you save money on groceries but save you time as well — AND your family will love them!
This oven fried chicken with biscuits is a tasty way to get the crunchy texture and delicious flavor of fried chicken without having to stand over a hot stove! Cooking with the biscuits in the same pan (This one is my favorite.) gives everything a super yummy taste!
Easy Oven Fried Chicken With Biscuits
Ingredients
4 –5 Tbsp. margarine (not butter)
4–6 pieces of chicken
1/2 cup baking mix
Salt and pepper
1 can refrigerator biscuits
Instructions
- Melt margarine in a 9×13 inch pan.
- Pour baking mix on a plate or place in a plastic bag.
- Roll chicken in the margarine; then roll in the baking mix. Place back into the pan.
- Salt and pepper to taste.
- Bake at 375° for about 45 minutes, until the juices run clear.
- About 5-10 minutes before the chicken is done, push the pieces of chicken tightly against one side of the pan and lay biscuits into the pan on the opposite side.
- Finish baking until the biscuits are brown.
Notes
It’s okay to lay the biscuits in the margarine and all in the bottom of the pan. That makes the biscuits margarine soaked and crispy. Oh, yum!

This quick and easy chili recipe makes a tasty mild chili perfect for cool days! This is one of my favorite easy dinner recipes for family meals. Because it is a mild chili, most kids will eat it. Serve with crackers, corn bread or garlic bread. It is also good served with sliced apples.
Quick And Easy Chili Recipe
Ingredients
3 small cans tomato soup*
3 soup cans of water
1/2 to 1 lb. cooked hamburger
Chili powder, to taste
Garlic powder and onion powder, to taste
Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Put everything into a large pan.
- Simmer at least 2 hours. It’s better to let it simmer all day if possible.
I usually use at least 2 teaspoons each of chili powder and garlic powder. You can also use onions.
You can add almost anything you want to this basic recipe. Beans work well or I like to crumble in some fried sausage for extra flavor.
*I have also replaced the soup with a large can (32-36 oz.) of tomato juice and it is good, too!
This slow cooked roast is one of our favorite easy dinner recipes for family meals because it is super easy to make and oh, so delicious! You will be amazed at how delicious it is with very little work!
If you like, throw some potatoes and carrots in with the roast about an hour to an hour and a half before it is finished cooking and you can have a full meal in one dish. This roast is also good served with rice and a vegetable, on tortillas with cheese

Easy Slow Cooked Roast Recipe
- Yield: 6 servings
Ingredients
1 beef roast, 3-5 lbs.
1 onion, sliced
1 can cream of mushroom soup (omit for GF and sprinkle with seasoned salt)
Instructions
- Place roast in pan.
- Pour cream of mushroom soup and onion on top.
- Cover tightly. Bake at 250° for 1 hour.
- Then turn down to 225° and cook for 15 or more hours; 10 hours for roasts smaller than 3 pounds. Serves 6.
Notes
*This slow cooked roast recipe is an excellent way to prepare inexpensive roasts. It makes the roast so tender that it falls off the bone and is almost impossible to lift out of the pan in one piece. It is a great way to make a delicious meal for Sunday after church or for guests, because it can cook for 2 or 3 hours longer than required without overcooking. And you get more for your money since it is so tender that no meat is left on the bone!
*Use a meat thermometer to make sure internal temperature reaches 145 degrees.

The previous page wanted to know my favorite quick & easy recipe. I am hoping this is where it was expected to be entered.

I really like the crock pot salsbury steak. I have a cheap recipe, but the soup has gotten expensive. Yours is really cheap and simple. My husband says this is a keeper.

Thank you for the quick and easy recipes! I always look for recipes that use ingredients I keep on hand, and use very few ingredients as well.
I was wondering though. The slow cooked roast recipe does look delish, but wouldn’t the electric usage eat up any savings of using an inexpensive cut of meat? 15 Hours would make the roast yummy, but that’s a lot of electric!
Jill
Thank goodness I have an electrical genius in the family and he did the research for me. Because of the low temperature it doesn’t use that much and is still cheaper to buy the cheap cut of meat.

Hi –
Why not use butter with the oven fried chicken with biscuits? Does the butter burn?
Jill
Yes the butter will usually burn faster than the chicken will cook.
