Easy Chinese Sesame Chicken Recipe

Ingredients

1/4 cup soy sauce
2 Tbsp. water
1 Tbsp. oil, butter or margarine
3 Tbsp. brown sugar
1 Tbsp. rice vinegar
1 tsp. fresh ginger, grated
2 cloves garlic, minced or 2 tsp. minced garlic
1 Tbsp. sesame seeds
1/2 Tbsp. cornstarch
2 lbs. Chinese chicken base (Recipe above)

Instructions

  1. Add all of the ingredients except the chicken base to a medium saucepan.
  2. Stir to mix.
  3. Cook for 5 minutes, until the mixture begins to thicken.
  4. Pour over the Chinese chicken.
  5. If desired, sprinkle sesame seeds over the top.

Notes

If you like, you can try adding any of the following on to of the sesame chicken as a garnish:

  • Toasted Sesame Seeds: Adds a nutty flavor and extra crunch.
  • Chopped Green Onions: Provides a fresh, mild onion flavor and a pop of color.
  • Cilantro: Adds a burst of color and a fresh, herbal note.
  • Sliced Red Chili or Chili Flakes: For a touch of heat and color.
  • Crushed Peanuts: Adds a crunchy texture and nutty flavor.

 

We normally serve Sesame Chicken with only sesame seeds and green onions as a garnish, but if you would like to add vegetables, here sre some that work well with Sesame Chicken:
