Q: Is this the same book as Dining On A Dime, Volume 1?
A: Yes and no. Some of the recipes are the same as Dining On A Dime, Volume 1, but others are completely different.
This book started as a variation on Dining On A Dime, Volume 1, but I quickly realized that I was not going to be able to easily modify existing recipes to be GFDF. As a result, there is a mix of new and existing recipes.
Chapters with recipes that typically used gluten and dairy are almost completely different. This particularly includes breads, desserts, parts of breakfasts, parts of main dishes and parts of soups and sandwiches.
Chapters that include more recipes that are naturally gluten free and dairy free, like vegetables and salads did not need as much adaptation to GFDF, so many of the recipes are nearly the same. I included these so that this would still be a complete cookbook.
Also, this book does NOT contain any of the non-food chapters from Dining On A Dime, Volume 1, like Pretty for Pennies, Gifts In A Jar and Cleaning Cents.
Q: I am on a Keto or Vegan diet or another specialty diet. Is this book for me?
A: This book is customized for gluten free and dairy free diets.
The recipes are NOT designed for other specialty diets, so if you are Keto, paleo, vegan, vegetarian, frutarian, allergic to nightshades, eating no sugar or salt or something else unusual, you will need to make those adaptations yourself (which is actually quite easy in most cases).
If you’re looking for a book that specifically addresses special diet restrictions other than gluten free dairy free, this is not the book for you.
