This double chocolate cake recipe is a 1940’s era cake recipe that uses mayonnaise instead of eggs, and it makes the most moist and delicious chocolate cake with just a few minutes’ work!

Ingredients

Units

2 cups all purpose flour
1 cup sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
4 Tbsp. cocoa
1 cup cold water
1 cup mayonnaise
2 tsp. vanilla

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°.
  2. Mix all of the ingredients together until smooth.
  3. Place in a greased 9×13 inch pan.
  4. Bake 30-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes clean.
  5. Frost with chocolate frosting or frosting of your choice. Serves 18.
