This easy crockpot barbecue beef stew recipe makes a tasty variation on stew that’s great in the winter or summer. Just toss it in the crockpot and enjoy at dinner time!
This easy crockpot barbecue beef stew recipe is from our 100 Crockpot Recipes eBook Bundle. It’s one of those recipes that can be used in the dead of winter or on a hot summer’s day because barbecue and your crockpot are both perfect for summer.
Tips:
- Lay the ingredients that will take longer to cook on the bottom of the crockpot. For example, put things like carrots, potatoes and turnips in first. Then place the meat on top of that.
- Even though this is a crockpot recipe, like most crockpot recipes, it can be cooked on the stove. Just set it on simmer or your lowest setting and let it cook all day. Some things that are more casserole-like can be baked in the oven at about 250 degrees for a couple of hours, too.
- Crush a large amount of graham cracker crumbs and store them in an airtight container. This will make future baking easier because all you need to do is scoop out what you need for a recipe.
There is nothing like a piping hot bowl of stew on a cold winter’s day. We love the favorite standbys but here is a different twist on regular beef stew.

Do you add the condensed milk with the coconut/choc chps/nuts? This sounds deliciously decadent!!!! Thank you and God bless you and your family…you are an inspiration to me :)
Jill
Thanks for pointing that out Maria. You drizzle the sweetened condensed milk on top of it all before you bake it. I fixed in the recipe.

Thanks for the beef recipe Jill, I think my family will like it a lot. My DIL and I have a New Year’s resolution to stop all the take out! and we’ve teamed up to cook every night. (Her beauty shop is open til 8-8:30 tuesday, wed and thurs, so we were ordering out way too much. So it’s either slow cooker or I make something fast when I get home at 5. We’re doing pretty well at it so far!
Love all our crockpots in all their sizes.
Hope you and Tawra are feeling well and surviving the long winter stretch. we’ve been very lucky here in NJ the weather has been so mild —
Jill
Glad you like the recipe Donna it is from the new crock pot cookbook I am frantically trying to get done and it is keeping super busy. I usually like to take a little break after Christmas and doing my gingerbread men but didn’t have a chance this year and I am starting to slow down big time. If I can just keep going until I get this book done and caught up on the web site.
Tawra is on a special diet and meds right now to help with her CFS and all so she fading fast because they said it would make really sick at first and it is. Micheal and I are holding our breaths to see if this will help. My son and I let her be the guinea pig and then if it works for her we will try it. Actually the doctor is there where she lives so that is why she is going first.
That is so handy that you and your DIL can share the cooking like that. Where there is a will there is a way. : ) I would love for you to tell us say at the end of a month or so if doing this has really helped you save and all. Sometimes the savings can really be amazing.

Unless I am reading this wrong, I think potatoes and such get really mushy if you put them on the bottom and they cook too fast
Jill
Jennifer most of the time they say to put the veggies on the bottom but if you have a problem with them getting mushy then you may need to put yours on the top. One thing I have learned is all crock pots are not a like so you may have to adjust temps, time and other things to your own crock pot. I looked up one recipe for the book I am working on and the same recipe in 4 different places had 4 different amount of times it should be cooked.
Most veggies don’t cook as fast as the meat so that is why they are usually put on the bottom.

When do you add the sweetened condensed mild to your Hello Dolly Cookies in your newsletter today-1/19/2012?
Thanks for putting your Dining on a Dime on sale again. I gave away my copy at Christmas as well as the other ones I bought. I really like it and it was so hard to give it away. I am excited to get the new one in the mail.
Annette
Jill
I got the milk changed on the web site but not the newsletter sorry. You drizzle the milk over it all right before putting it in the oven.
Annette
I found the correction on your site. Thanks.
Excited to hear about the new cookbook. I will be sure to buy more than one.

On the Hello Dolly Cookies recipe, where does the sweetened condensed milk go? It doesn’t say when to add it in. These cookies sounds yummy and I definetly want to make some of them.
Thank you so much, Betty

The best part is that we get along really well, and she’s gotten a little stronger at telling my son (whom I love dearly as well), “sorry, honey” that’s what we’re having, unless you’d like to make your own! LOL. We both are good and honest with ear other whether a recipe is a keeper or not, I think that helps a lot, we try to make things that all fur of us like.
He has magically stopped complaining!
Hope the new meds and diet work for Tawra and then you and your son — it’s just so mentally exhausting to never feel well.
