Easy Breakfast Tips For Mother’s Day Brunch And More!
- You can do so many things with breadstick dough. One of those things is to take a sausage and wrap it with breadstick dough and bake at 350° until brown (about 15 minutes). You can also take these on a camping trip. Stick the sausage on a stick, wrap with dough and cook over the campfire, turning until golden brown.
- Coffee cake isn’t just for breakfast. Serve it for dessert with ice cream or drizzle it with some caramel or chocolate syrup.
- To use leftover coffee cake, cube it to make bread pudding or in a trifle.
- If you are in a hurry, most coffee cake recipes can be made into muffins. Pour the batter into muffin cups and if it calls for streusel topping, sprinkle a little over each muffin. Bake at the same temperature as the coffee cake but only bake for about 1/4 the amount of time or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- To kick any coffee cake up a notch, sprinkle it with powdered sugar or brown sugar or drizzle with a glaze.

Here’s a classic homemade pancake recipe, perfect for breakfast anytime! If you’ve never made them, pancakes are easy to make. The key is not to let the pan get too hot so they don’t burn. Cook them on medium heat, but if the pan or griddle starts to get too hot, turn it down a little as you go.
Pour out the batter in small circles or if you want them about the same size, you can measure it out with a ladle or turkey baster. When the edges start to set and bubbles form over the tops, they are ready to turn over. If you’re not sure, you can carefully try to slide a spatula under one of them and if it starts to fall apart, it’s not quite time to flip.

PrintBreakfast Muffins Recipe
Ingredients
4 slices bacon (we used turkey bacon and veggie bacon)
3 eggs
3 Tbsp. milk
salt and pepper
1 can biscuits (10 biscuits)
1/3 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Cook the bacon until it’s almost done.
- Chop into small bits and set aside.
- Preheat the oven to 400°.
- Whisk together eggs, milk and a pinch of salt and pepper (to taste).
- Roll out each biscuit until it’s slightly bigger than the circumference of your muffin tin.
- Grease the muffin tin.
- Push one biscuit into each muffin cup, making sure to push it all the way down and to the sides. Leave the ridge hanging over the edge.
- Divide the cheese evenly in each of the biscuit cups.
- Then pour in egg, filling each cup only halfway. They will look empty, but resist the urge to top them off because they will puff up when baked.
- Sprinkle bacon over the top of the egg.
- Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until golden and eggs are set.
- Use a butter knife to loosen each muffin. Serve warm.
Notes
If your egg does overflow, just let it bake the rest of the way. Then remove the extra egg when you are loosening the muffins.

OJ smoothie.. instead of all the sugar, I substituted 1 container of Yoplait Orange Creamy yogurt (.58 cents)[you could use store brand too] and 2 packets of Splenda or whatever sugar substitute. Cuts down on some sugar content. I also usesd these substitutions on a cool whip fruit dip, people could not tell the difference
thanks for all the good recipes you give us!

Try eating with pleasure cold toast with the butter sitting on it in lumps and hot lemon tea on a water bed while 3 males sit and watch your enjoyment. Oh yes almost forgot the cat as well.
I would take a bite of the toast and a sip of tea avoiding the lumps of butter thank them nicely and ask what was on TV. They would leave I would discretely flush the toast down the toilet and take my tea to the kitchen where I proceeded to make breakfast for everyone.
This year with no children home I will await the calls and then my husband will turn on the bbq and do back ribs with potatoes baking in the oven. Open a bag of salad mix and voila supper is served and much enjoyed with a couple glasses of wine.
No work from me hopefully neither of us will be too sore to cook after the Sat. of cutting wood for our summer supply of front yard fires.
But whatever you are served smile and remember how much your own mother loved the meals you served her in bed on her special day.
What goes around comes around and love makes everything wonderful.

Hi Jill, Tawra and all Moms, Over the last challenging year, I came up with this list of who and what I am. I am sure that all of you can add and/or top it. So here it goes: I am a wife, mother and grandmother, housekeeper and house-cleaner, gardener, chef, chauffeur, photographer, physicians asst., correspondent, seamstress, laundress, interior decorator, naturalist, animal lover, reader, traveler, wood-stacker, recycler, knitter/crocheter, chicken and egg lady, herbalist, nurse, composter, creative thinker, music lover, accountant, weather forecaster and watcher, movie critic and lover, homesteader, keeper of the keys, shopper for food and bargains, organizer, collector, spellcheck (for my husband), librarian, vet, baker, barber, doorman (mostly for our cats) and general groundskeeper.
I am not bragging because we all do these things without thinking about it…much…until I decided to list them. The sky is the limit for Mothers.
Jill
I recently heard a commercial that I thought was cute and along these same lines. To paraphrase it – Mom’s are so amazing; they are the only ones in the house who know how to turn on the dishwasher. :)

Hi Judy from Maine
Please take the day off from all your jobs we women do so much and ask for so little put your feet up and relax. This chauffeur and caretaker of everyone’s needs will be taking the day off until someone can’t find something. Happy Mothers Day

It is easier to not take a day off than later catching up for a few days. My husband doesn’t want me to do any cleaning/gardening/laundry on Sundays. But then my Monday and Tuesday will be very stressful, because everything is a mess and I don’t even know where to start. So it’s easier to not take a day off, because it’s even more work later.

You are so right, Mothers Day was for burnt offerings. It was the. Mess in the kitchen I always dreaded the most. Now my kids are all grown up. My daughter took me out for a very posh Brunch in a very trendy place this past Mothers Day. I thought Oh my Goodness. Reservations had been made two weeks in advance, while I scanned the Menu with a gold tassel sipping my champaign Mimosa,I knew deep in my heart that she would be calling Me the next week or so for a bill she. Could not pay.

Hi Jill,
The fried potatoes are so good! I also sprinkled some bisquick on my potatoes as I fry them. It makes them extra crispy. Happy Mother’s day and God bless you and your family.
Jill
Oh Susan that sound yummy. I will have to try that the next time I make some fried potatoes. Thanks for the tip.
Magdalen
Daughter, then about eight, with help from younger sibs, once bought two new frying pans to cook bacon and egg for me, as a surprise on Mothering Sunday, (it’s earlier here). They brought it upstairs for both of us. I’ll never forget it.
Re: fried potatoes. I use a little oil and warm some garlic in it before adding the preboiled diced potatoes. If they’re left over mash, that works well too, and a lot of ground black pepper.
Jill
We are giving you the recipes to give to your family so they maybe can not make such a mess in your kitchen for you. Besides, most of our families really try to make things nice for us but don’t always have a clue on how to do these things so I don’t think it hurts to be a little kind and give them a break or a little help.
Taylor
Is there anything a ten year old can cook?
Jill
Taylor there are a few things and it of course depends on the ten year old some are a little more responsibe about such things or have a love for doing it and because of that it is easier to teach them. The thing is to start out teaching them to cook their favorite foods. For example Tawra’s 10 year old loves Raman (sp) noodles for lunch so he learned to cook those first. He also loves cinnamon toast broiled in the oven so he can do that now. If they like mac and cheese or Jello teach them to do that. Another good one is scrambled eggs or oatmeal if they like that. You could move on to grilled cheese sandwiches and brownies.
